Why Jehovah’s Witnesses Need to be Sanctioned or Proscribed by Federal Government: Nigeria is a country where religious people capitalise on religious freedom to wreck havoc in the society. Both the illiterates and literates understand the concept of right to freedom of religion just because they have inordinate agenda of creating terror in the society in the name of religion.

Again Nigeria is a country where people tilts to a certain provisions of the Law whenever they want to promote an evil agenda in the name of religion. Section 38 of 1999 Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria as Amended 2011 is just like a Nursery rhyme to them but they fail to understand that section 38 is not absolute. That provision which interests you religious folks whenever you want to spearhead your bigotry is restricted by the provision of section 45 of the Nigerian Constitution.

Meanwhile, while the federal government targets Shi’ite Muslims, another religious sect worthy of sanction and proscription is the Jehovah’s Witnesses, formerly known as the Russellites founded by Charles T Russell who was succeeded by Rutherford; two delusional United States champs. The misguided doctrine of the Watchtower Movement has not only led to high infant mortality rate but has increased high rate of maternal mortality. It is not enough that children whose parents are Jehovah’s Witnesses members are often subjected to emotional abuse, there has been instances children are allowed to die off in the hospital because of a misguided doctrine that blood transfusion is biblically sinful.

Yesterday May 8, 2025, a two year old child nearly lost his life in Cross River because the parents who are members of this sect refused the Chief medical officer from administering blood transfusion a on dying child who needed that to survive. It took family court order for the child to be saved. Just today May 9, 2025, a medical doctor refused to administer blood transfusion on a pregnant woman in critical condition that needed it to survive the loss of blood she experienced during childbirth because of religious faith as a Jehovah’s Witnesses. The Jehovah’s Witnesses Medical doctor did not only violate his Oath of Hippocrates but has committed negligence occasioning death which is tantamount to manslaughter and attracts life jail.

Enough is enough. There is no doubt that the Watch Tower Movement is becoming a terror group that needs to be sanctioned or proscribed. It is not a novel thing to proscribe or sanction the tacit terror group; Jehovah’s Witnesses. Russia did some time ago. Since Nigeria is now in alliance with Russia, it should take the format of Russia and either ban or sanction the religious organisations. The law empowers the government to regulate the activities of religious organizations.
