COMEDIAN ARRESTED FOR CALLING OUT CONTRACTOR IN DELTA

Comedian Arrested for Calling out contractor in Delta State

COMEDIAN ARRESTED FOR CALLING OUT CONTRACTOR IN DELTA: A comedian popularly known as MC2Kingdom whose real name is Ajirioghene Otagba has been arrested and detained by the Nigerian Police.

The arrest which is linked to a contractor named Matthew Edevbie, the Managing Director of Income Electrix Limited, a brother to the former Governorship contestant on the platform of the PDP in Delta State Olorogun David Edevbie took place after the comedian made a video calling for the contractor (Matthew Edevbie) handling the abandoned 132kva substation at Ozoro, Delta, an NDDC project abandoned for more than 12 years to come back to site, also calling on the government to restart and finish the project.

The project which is meant to be a key part of the power distribution network in Delta State is said to be a major reason why Isoko one of the major oil bearing regions in the country has been plagued by electricity blackout for many years.

The arrest has sparked outrage as a plethora of youth bodies in Isoko have been calling for his immediate and unconditional release berating and urging the government to immediate move to complete the power substation.

A letter written by the Isoko Comrades Community, a body of Isoko Graduates to the governor of Delta State and political office holders in Isoko etc calling for the release of Ajirioghene reads:

ISOKO COMRADE COMMUNITY (ICC) CONDEMNS THE ILLEGAL ARREST AND DEMAND UNCONDITIONAL RELEASE OF COMEDIAN AJIRIOGHENE OTAGBA

The Isoko Comrade Community (ICC), a pressure group, strongly condemns the illegal arrest of Comedian Ajirioghene Otagba, popularly known as MC 2Kingdom, by Chief Matthew Edevbie, the contractor handling the  abandoned 132 KVA Substation Electricity Project at Ozoro in Isoko North Local Government Area of Delta State. Abandoned for 14yrs now.

Otagba’s arrest is a clear case of intimidation, aimed at silencing his criticism of the abandoned project. We view this as an affront to freedom of speech and a blatant disregard for the rule of law.

DEMAND FOR IMMEDIATE UNCONDITIONAL RELEASE:

We demand that Chief Matthew Edevbie and the authorities immediately and unconditionally release Otagba. Failure to do so will be met with strong resistance, including mass protests and demonstrations.

We call on the Delta State Governor, Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori, The LGA chairman – Hon. Eldr. Godwin Ogorugba, (Chief host to project site), Isoko Development Union (IDU), Worldwide President: Prof. Chris Akpotu, Rep. Ajirioghene Ukodhiko and Senator Joel Onowakpo to intervene promptly and ensure that justice is served.

We also call on Olorogun David Edevbie, a former Governorship aspirant and brother to Chief Matthew Edevbie, to prevail on his brother to release Comrade Otagba Ajirioghene unconditionally.

SOLIDARITY WITH OTAGBA

The ICC stands in solidarity with Otagba and commends him for his bravery in speaking out against the abandoned project. We will not stand idly by while our members are intimidated and harassed for exercising their constitutional rights.

We urge all well-meaning individuals and organizations to join us in condemning this illegal arrest and demanding Otagba’s immediate release.
